Our story

Three potters, one studio, no seasonal collections.

We make a small number of forms very well and keep making them.

Studio work

Common Vessel started in 2016 in a shared studio with one wheel and a kiln that took eleven hours to reach temperature. The plan was to make mugs that survived a household with children in it.

Ten years later the plan has not changed. Two glazes, eleven forms, roughly four hundred pieces a month. When a form is not good enough we stop making it rather than discount it.

Every piece is vitrified stoneware, fired to cone 10. It is dishwasher and oven safe, and if it fails in normal use we replace it.
